Get Come and Gone - Innovations for Post Coital Hygiene
We recently (ie. remotely) connected with Frances Tang, founder and CEO of Come&Gone. Come&gone was born out of the Founder's own personal experience with post coital hygiene. The company offers an after-sex clean up product made out of a soft, sterile, medical grade sponge adhered to a stick that is inserted into the vagina. Once inside the vagina it absorbs excess fluids and can be removed.
It got us thinking about post-coital hygiene. It's always important to take good care of your vagina, but especially so if you're sexually active. Ob/Gyns recommend that women allow excessive semen to drain from the vagina if having penis-in-vagina intercourse without a condom so that the vaginal pH stays in balance. This helps to prevent yeast and bacterial infections and UTIs. The normal vaginal pH is around 4 – which is quite acidic compared to the rest of our body (pH near 7). When the vaginal pH is too high, bacteria can overpopulate, leading to vaginal or urinary infections.
We are always on the look out for innovative founders tackling the feminine hygiene sector. We enjoyed our conversation with Frances and learned that Come&Gone is much more than the post-coital product - its a platform for sexual education and is focused on destigmatizing feminine hygiene.
